Arabella sings the blues
They responded to her songs at last:
in the hot night, in the sultry dark,
some spark
inflamed the crowd.
She was Arabella Jones, famous once,
who sang sad songs, sang the blues
until booze
darkened her cloud.
The years had not been kind; her weary eyes
were dull with pain--times were tough,
she'd seen enough
of life's despair.
