HTML for Posters
In posting to sites that use HTML coding (e.g. Zoetrope,
Egoless, etc.) we need to keep things simple. In fact,
this is about all the HTML we really need to know:
BOLD - To bold text put before the text that you want
highlighted and then when you want the bolding
to end. For example:
This won't be bolded but this will.
ITALICS - To italicize anything type before the text
you want italicized and when you want that
effect to end. For example:
This won't be in italics but this will.
UNDERLINE - To underline text merely put where you
want the underlining to begin, where you want
it to end. For example:
Only this will be underlined.
COLOURS - To change text colour start with:
At the end of all your colouring type:
This is red, while
this text is black.
Note that you must use the U.S. spelling of "color".
Select your colour from these options:
Aqua Black Blue Fuchsia
Grey Green Lime Maroon
Navy Olive Purple Red
Teal White Silver Yellow
INDENTING - The recommended method requires that we know
the background colour on which your text will
appear. For most sites, including Egoless and
Zoetrope, this is white. The trick is to make
your text the background colour, type in some
filler characters (which will not appear on the
screen in the final output since it is the same
colour as the background; e.g. white on white)
and then change back to your normal text colour
(e.g. black). For example:
_____And
now we start typing our text. Those underscores
will not appear on a white background.
You can vary the length of the indent by inserting
more or fewer underscores between
and .
FORMATTING - If you would like text to align vertically
you can enclose it (in whole or part) in and
tags. This will allow reliable spacing
and vertical alignment o
